Dental studies from the US show that tooth decay, also known as cavities, is the second most prevalent disease after common cold. Tooth decay is caused by the reaction of plaque (the sticky, whitish stuff formed by bacteria that colonize the teeth) with the sugars and starches of food, resulting in acids that attack tooth enamel. After they have thinned down the enamel enough, your teeth become very sensitive to sweet, hot and cold. If you don’t take measures, the process continues to eat away your teeth until you have gaping holes in them. The more you wait, the higher the chance of complications and the higher your dental bill will be. However, if you act on time, a simple dental filling will solve your problem.
